	United States Power Squadron -- USPS is a non- profit, educational organization organized in 1914. It is dedicated to making boating safer and more enjoyable by teaching classes in seamanship, navigation and related subjects. USPS District 27 -- District 27 of the United States Power Squadrons includes Squadrons of Cape Fear (Wilmington), Cape Lookout (New Bern) Charlotte, Durham, Kinston, New River (Jacksonville), Raleigh and Winston-Salem, Catawba (Rock Hill, SC), Fayetteville, Rocky Mount, Greensboro, Lake Norman, Tar River, (Greenville/Washington), Shallote River, Goldsboro, and Fort Macon (Morehead City). District 27 was formed on March 30, 1963.

Coast Guard, and certification is honored in every state with education and/or licensing requirements.
